In July 2016, the Gary Redevelopment Commission entered into a public-private partnership with MaiaCo, a firm established to work alongside the City of Gary to help its community take back control of abandoned property. The partnership with MaiaCo supports Gary in eradicating blight and divestment. MaiaCo is currently working to help the city maintain ownership of abandoned properties and provide economic opportunities in distressed areas. Meridian Hospitality Group
In August 2017, the Gary Redevelopment Commission approved a master development agreement with Meridian Hospitality Group. This agreement is designed to strengthen the east lakefront area by supplementing the area around the train station and developing its surrounding infrastructure. According to the agreement, MHG will build 250 housing units, construct a full-service hotel, and create other attractions to encourage traffic to the East Lakefront area. Indiana Regional Development Authority (RDA)
The RDA is a state entity that was created to heavily support the communities of Northwest Indiana to expand their economic growth opportunities. The RDA is currently working with the City of Gary to monitor and complete projects outlined in the Marquette Plan. Further, they are also working with lawmakers to improve infrastructure around the Gary Chicago International Airport and contributed $50 million toward development that can increase airport usage. Legacy collaborates with local leaders, supports neighborhood organizations, and has awarded over $40 million dollars in grants. CDC, Gary's Emerson Spotlight is a community development initiative that brings together numerous businesses, residents, non-profits, and other partners to build, harmonize and create strategies toward a flourishing Downtown-Emerson community. Emerson Spotlight is funded by The Legacy Foundation, which helps Lake County neighborhoods build their capacity for growth and reinvestment by providing a proven framework and consulting staff in developing neighborhoods.

Through its Neighborhood Spotlight program, the Legacy Foundation helps Lake County neighborhoods build their capacity for growth and reinvestment. Miller Spotlight is convened by the Miller Beach Arts and Creative District and focuses on providing professional development and philanthropic resources for the community.
The Gary Redevelopment Commission has approved a plan with HMD Trucking to build a facility in Gary. The move would bring an estimated 500 jobs to Gary. The company has agreed to local hiring requirements, priority to Ivy Tech graduates and Gary residents, and is committed to developing a pipeline for local employment.
